We have missed an article in Today newspaper introducing “The Hunger Games” that was published on January 11 so here it is.

In case the photo isn’t clear enough, here’s a transcript of it provided by Today Online:

The Hunger Games: They are calling it the new book-to-film Harry Potter or Twilight. And for very good reason. The Hunger Games – the first book of The Hunger Games Trilogy, a young-adult science fiction series written by Suzanne Collins – has been on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 100 consecutive weeks.

The film version tells the story of how the government of dystopic Capitol mandates that each of its 12 districts pay tribute by sending one teenage boy and girl to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a fight-to-the-death live televised event. Oscar-nominee Jennifer Lawrence reportedly pipped 30 other starlets including Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Roberts, Saoirse Ronan and Chloe Moretz to play Katniss Everdeen, the heroine who volunteers to take her little sister’s place when the latter gets chosen in the lottery to participate in the Games.

Also starring Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson, the film’s sequel, based on the second novel, Catching Fire, has already been officially announced and will be released next year. Harrelson revealed that he has signed on for four films, so it looks like the series will be going all the way, with the final book, Mockingjay, adapted into a two-parter.

“May the odds be ever in your favour”, runs a quote from the book. We’re betting it already is. GENEVIEVE LOH | Opens: March 22

Personally speaking, I think the odds are certainly in “The Hunger Games” favor.

‘The Hunger Games’ will be released in Singapore on 22 March 2012.
