The Hunger Games DVD and Blu-Ray are now available. “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is scheduled for release on 22 November 2013 in USA.
While we had reported that The Civil Wars and Taylor Swift performed “Safe and Sound” together live for the very first time as well as Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire and The Decemberists will also be contributing to ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack.
According to Times Daily.com, besides the aforementioned artists, American traditional country music duo, The Secret Sisters, will also be contributing a song named “Tomorrow Will Be Kinder” to ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack.
Here’s a snippet of the interview with Times Daily.com where they mentioned ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack:
We were in Australia when the tornadoes came through Alabama (in April 2011). It was so tough for us to be away from home when all that was going on. There, Lydia sat down and wrote a song stemming from that sadness, “Tomorrow Will Be Kinder.” Even though it came from a really dark circumstance, it is about looking forward to better days. Just recently, we found out that song is going to be on “The Hunger Games” soundtrack. We recorded that song with T Bone in New York.
Lionsgate has not given any confirmation on this matter yet. We will update you when we have a confirmation.
‘The Hunger Games’ will be released in Singapore on 22 March 2012.
‘Safe and Sound’ by Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars was revealed on 23 December 2011 and the song was well received by Hunger Games fans and non-Hunger Games fans alike for it had reached No. 1 on iTunes Single Chart in just around 24 hours time after it was revealed.
American Songwriter had an interview with The Civil Wars recently where they spoke about producing ‘Safe and Sound’ along with other stuff.
Sounding more like The Swell Season than the product of Music City marketing, “Safe And Sound” relies on a swelling melody, and is built around an escalating run of notes that leaves you hungry for more. Swift takes the main vocal, and the Civil Wars’ Joy Williams joins in on harmony. Drums march softly in the background, leading to a more fleshed-out sound than we’re used to hearing from one of 2011′s standout acts.
The song, which will be featured in the eagerly-awaited film The Hunger Games, was co-written by Swift and the band, and produced by Americana music maven T Bone Burnett. “We had an amazingly soulful, organic, productive time with him,” notes Williams — the duo recently teamed with the producer on a couple of unnamed projects. “So we were honored when we were asked to collaborate with him and Taylor Swift. We had a great session, surprisingly fast. So fast, we were able to hop into T-Bone’s bedroom studio, put down an acoustic track and some vocals before heading to our show at The Wiltern.”
John Paul White also shared his pride in the track. ““We would’ve never guessed the song would become the lead single for the film,” he tells Paste. “That didn’t matter to us—we were just proud of it. Each of our fingerprints was indelibly there. Within the time frame of a month, this song went from thin air, to a computer near you.”

Not only is ‘The Hunger Games’ movie highly anticipated but it appears people are looking forward to the soundtrack too!
Yahoo! Music has compiled a list of 20 albums which they are excited about in 2012. ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack is one of the albums that made it on the list.
HUNGER GAMES SOUNDTRACK (March)
If you thought you’d have to wait a few decades to see Taylor Swift collaborate with T Bone Burnett, they had a more accelerated schedule in mind. They hooked up with the Americana duo the Civil Wars for “Safe and Sound,” the lead single from the soundtrack to the wildly anticipated teen-dystopia film. Burnett also enlisted the Decemberists, Arcade Fire, and others yet to be announced for the companion album. Leading lady Jennifer Lawrence is said to make a vocal contribution, too.

News of artists who will be contributing for ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack has been going around for the past few days with “Safe & Sound” by Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars being the first track to be revealed two days ago, followed by names of more artists who will be contributing to ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack yesterday.
While we had reported previously besides Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire and The Decemberists will also be contributing to ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack, Variety has now revealed more information about the tracks.
Swift collaborated with the Civil Wars and Burnett to write and perform the lead single “Safe and Sound,” launched on iTunes on Friday and became the top iTunes song.
Butler and Chassagne have written a song with Burnett entitled “Horn Of Plenty,” and the Decemberists have contributed an original song, “One Engine.”
This ‘The Hunger Games’ companion album will be produced by award winning T Bone Burnett and released by Universal Republic Records with Lionsgate before release of ‘The Hunger Games’ on March 23, 2012, in the United States of America.
Many thanks to @larry411 for the tip.
What do you think of these track titles?
According to Chicago Tribune which has an article on Reuters Entertainment news summary where Lionsgate stated besides Taylor Swift whom collaborated with The Civil Wars for the song “Safe & Sound” that was revealed yesterday, artists such as The Decemberists and
Arcade Fire will also produce original songs for the soundtrack.
Taylor Swift, T-Bone Burnett on “Hunger Games” album
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Country singer Taylor Swift will lead a host of musicians collaborating with Oscar-winning artist T. Bone Burnett for a companion album to the upcoming film, “The Hunger Games.” Movie studio Lionsgate said on Friday that Burnett has joined forces with Swift, The Decemberists, Arcade Fire and The Civil Wars to create original songs for the film, set for release in March 2012.
What do you think of the new addition of artists here? Perhaps it is just me but it does sounds like The Civil Wars will have their own songs in the soundtrack as well besides collaborating with Taylor Swift.
Variety reports that due to schedule conflicts, Danny Elfman will not compose the score of ‘The Hunger Games’ with T-Bone Burnett. James Newton Howard will replace Danny Elfman and work with T-Bone Burnett on ‘The Hunger Games’ score instead.
I’m afraid to say that I don’t know much about music though this is rather surprising considering we are only around 105 days away from release of “The Hunger Games” movie. That’s rather short amount of time to start from scratch if that’s what they are planning to do. James Newton Howard does have a pretty impressive portfolio too and you can check out a list of his works, including awards and nominations, over here.
Lionsgate has not commented on this sudden change yet.
What do you make of this? I’m still definitely looking forward to the score and soundtrack! Still no word regarding “Rue’s Lullaby” which is sang by Jennifer Lawrence though.
In this special feature report by Russ Bowen, the spotlight is on “Echo Mountain” studio where Jennifer Lawrence and T-Bone Burnett had recorded the song “Rue’s Lullaby”. No mention of “The Hunger Games” here but in case you are interested to see what the studio looks like, check out the video here.
