PHOTOS: All Lacquered Up Reviewed China Glaze’s “Colors From The Capitol” Collection

While Bella Sugar has a video review on several colors from “Colors From The Capitol” nail polish collection by China Glaze in collaboration with Lionsgate for ‘The Hunger Games’ movie, All Lacquered Up reviewed all 12 colors from “Colors From The Capitol” nail collection with photos of what each color looks like on actual nails and applications tips.

China Glaze Luxe & Lush (District 1 – Luxury) is the FLAKIE top coat. I know all you flakie fans have been freaking over this and since we’re in the midst of a giant flakie movement I’m sure this color will sell fast. In the bottle you can see flecks of fiery orange, blue and a lilac leaning pink in a milky base. I thought it would pair well with Dress Me Up but I wanted to show you other options so I included a black (ChG Liquid Leather) and pale blue (ChG Sea Spray). I think I expected it to explode over black but it kind of fizzled out like an expired firecracker. I love it over the other two though.

China Glaze Stone Cold (District 2 – Masonry) surprised me as I wasn’t expecting to see a matte in this collection but it makes total sense to have this graphite glitter dry with a matte finish. It’s so asphalt-esque I can’t stand it. Though very similar to Nubar Matte Midnight. Like most mattes, the formula is a bit thick and goopy so use thin coats and workly quickly since mattes dry fast.

China Glaze Riveting (District 3 – Technology) is a jelly-fied gem. A sister to two classic China Glaze jellies, Orange Marmalade and Orange-Pacific this color has one thing going for it the others lack, pigment. It’s magical. Two coats and it’s on! LOVE!

Effie Trinket: The Capitol’s New Cover Girl For China Glaze’s Capitol Colors!

As we had previously reported earlier, there was some drama around China Glaze collaboration with Lionsgate to produce a ‘The Hunger Games’ related nail polish line. However, it looks like the nail polish line is confirmed with a new exclusive picture straight from the Capitol via Hollywood Crush!

It seems that District 12’s escort, Effie Trinket, is finally getting the attention she’s always wanted. Today, MTV released an advertisement for ‘The Hunger Games’ nail polish line, Capitol Colors, featuring Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinket).

Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) for Capitol Colors

If you are wondering if that is Elizabeth Banks in the picture, well, she has confirmed that it’s indeed her via her official Twitter.

Here’s what Hollywood Crush has to say:

Just look at Ms. Trinket in this photo! Her perfectly-curled hair is a very soft shade of pink, further accented by a purple head piece and a fuchsia top. Effie’s makeup is equally bold, with hot pink eyeshadow above and below her eyes, plus matching lipstick (not to mention those feather-like adornments on her eyelashes). The ad features small swatches of what we presume to be the official 12 colors to be launched as part of the “Capitol Colours” line, as well as the leading and clever tagline “What will you be wearing to the opening ceremonies?”

According to the news from the Capitol, the 12 polish colors will represent each of the 12 districts, which will allow the citizens of Panem to show support for their favorite tribute leading up to the Games on March 23. Inside sources tell us to expect more news updates from the Capitol as they continue to roll out additional promotions in the coming weeks.

As stated in our first report on China Glaze nail polish line, Capitol Colors is expected to be released by February. China Glaze Capitol Colors line should be on sale in all Sephora outlets in Singapore.

Here’s a list of Sephora outlets in Singapore:

  • Takashimaya S.C. B1
  • ION Orchard L1
  • Great World City L1
  • Marina Bay Sands B2

We had went to Sephora stores and we found China Glaze nail polishes are priced at around S$18 to S$20 per bottle. We assume this would be the price range for Capitol Colors nail polish line too.

One of Down With The Capitol readers, Ash, pointed out that the false lashes Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) is wearing could be found in Sephora stores. “Deer & Butterfly Eyelashes” by PAPERSELF is priced at US$19 (around S$25) per set.

Will you be getting a bottle or two when line is released?

Confirmed: Hunger Games-inspired nail polish from China Glaze!

So, Lionsgate has FINALLY announced and confirmed the official nail polish colours and names for The Hunger Games, “Colours of the Capitol”. They’re working with China Glaze to release a series of Hunger Games-inspired nail polish, and the colour samples are definitely looking good!

The twelve colour samples released so far!

If you take a closer look at the names of the polishes, you’ll notice that each of the 12 polish colours seem to represent each district according to Shylah from Down With The Capitol.

Dress Me Up: District 8 (textiles)

Foie Gras(that’s French for duck/goose liver): Possibly District 10 (livestock)

Fast Track: District 6 (transport)

Hook and Line: District 4 (fishing)

Stone Cold: District 2 (masonry)

Smoke and Ashes: District 12 (coal mining)

Agro: District 11 (agriculture)

Mahogany Magic: District 7 (lumber)

Harvest Moon: District 9 (grain)

Riveting: District 3 (electronics)

Electrify: District 5 (power)

Luxe and Lush: District 1 (luxury products)

However, there are STILL rumours that this wonderous line of polishes may not be released! (Devastating, I know.) Hollywood Reporter states that

Los Angeles-based American International Industries, which says it is the country’s largest privately-held manufacturer of personal care and beauty products, filed a lawsuit Wednesday in LA Superior Court. The company claims that it closed a deal in late October to create a Hunger Games-branded version of its “China Glaze” nail polish, as well as contribute to the promotional campaign for the adaptation of the popular Suzanne Collins novel that Lionsgate is hoping will be a mega-blockbuster movie series similar to Twilight.

But shortly after Lionsgate executives signed the contract, according to the complaint, the studio made statements to the press that the deal was “not happening,” and asked American to say that the parties “were merely ‘discussing’ a ‘possible’ promotional deal.” American says it refused to lie, prompting a Lionsgate attorney to send an email on Nov. 17 saying that the studio was “terminating” the contract.

(BTW, I know some of you felt horrid at the comparison to Twilight. I know EVERYTHING. *narrows eyes*)

HOWEVER, DO NOT FRET! Lionsgate has announced in a recent press release that the nail polishes WILL be released on March 1, 2012!

SANTA MONICA, CA (December 9, 2011) – Lionsgate announces that it has partnered with worldwide beauty brand China Glaze on a collection of nail polish to debut in conjunction with the March 23, 2012 release of THE HUNGER GAMES.

In keeping with the powerful themes and messages of the story, the collection of nail polish will be inspired exclusively by one of the book’s distinct settings- the Capitol of the nation of Panem. Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.

The collection of colors will be available at specialty beauty retailers beginning on March 1, 2012.

As mentioned in a previous article, you can find China Glaze in these Sephora outlets in Singapore at these places :):
