PHOTOS: All Lacquered Up Reviewed China Glaze’s “Colors From The Capitol” Collection

While Bella Sugar has a video review on several colors from “Colors From The Capitol” nail polish collection by China Glaze in collaboration with Lionsgate for ‘The Hunger Games’ movie, All Lacquered Up reviewed all 12 colors from “Colors From The Capitol” nail collection with photos of what each color looks like on actual nails and applications tips.

China Glaze Luxe & Lush (District 1 – Luxury) is the FLAKIE top coat. I know all you flakie fans have been freaking over this and since we’re in the midst of a giant flakie movement I’m sure this color will sell fast. In the bottle you can see flecks of fiery orange, blue and a lilac leaning pink in a milky base. I thought it would pair well with Dress Me Up but I wanted to show you other options so I included a black (ChG Liquid Leather) and pale blue (ChG Sea Spray). I think I expected it to explode over black but it kind of fizzled out like an expired firecracker. I love it over the other two though.

China Glaze Stone Cold (District 2 – Masonry) surprised me as I wasn’t expecting to see a matte in this collection but it makes total sense to have this graphite glitter dry with a matte finish. It’s so asphalt-esque I can’t stand it. Though very similar to Nubar Matte Midnight. Like most mattes, the formula is a bit thick and goopy so use thin coats and workly quickly since mattes dry fast.

China Glaze Riveting (District 3 – Technology) is a jelly-fied gem. A sister to two classic China Glaze jellies, Orange Marmalade and Orange-Pacific this color has one thing going for it the others lack, pigment. It’s magical. Two coats and it’s on! LOVE!

Episode 42 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live TONIGHT, January 16, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol, Sam of District Tribute and Panem Radio, Tiffany of Victor’s Village, and Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty.

As we predicted last week…the storm is here!

– We’ll kick off the show by recapping/discussing ALL of the amazing news from this past week: the new still of Effie, Haymitch, and Katniss that was released by The Daily Blam on Sunday, Lionsgate’s $412.5 million purchase of Summit, Suzanne Collins’ executive producer status, and the unveiling of CapitolCouture.pn (what do we think about Lionsgate’s beauty-centric marketing tactics?).
– Next, we’ll do an interview round-up and share our favorite moments from the MANY cast interviews that have been popping up online. (Because there have been so many, we can’t really link them all here, so we suggest you visit all of your favorite fan sites to check out any that you may have missed.)
– On a similar note, we’ll also talk about Gary Ross’s INCREDIBLE interview with the L.A. Times Hero Complex, in which he explains the lengths he went to in order to direct The Hunger Games.

HG Fireside Chat: Episode 41 – “The Calm Before the Storm” Promo

Click here to listen to Episode 41 LIVE on Monday night (1/9/12) starting at 10pm ET/7pm PT!

Episode 41 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live TONIGHT, January 9, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol, Crystal of Mockingjay.net and FictionalFood.net, Sam of District Tribute, Rebekah of Victor’s Village, and Natalie of Crushable.

The last couple of weeks have been very slow, news-wise, but we’re expecting things to really pick up during the latter part of January, especially as Hunger Games TV spots start airing and the cast begins to make more public appearances. We have a feeling that this may be the calm before the storm, so to speak, so we’re going to take advantage of it and just have fun!

– We’ll kick off the show with a few brief announcements, some quick Lionsgate/Summit merger updates, and a short discussion of AFM’s picketing of Lionsgate.
– We’ll then do one round of Pick a Page (since it’s been awhile), so get your books ready!
– We’ll spend the rest of the evening digging into our topic cornucopia (a.k.a. grab bag), which is absolutely overflowing with all sorts of conversation topics, Crackpot Theories, Cave/Marry/Kill line-ups, and more! Who knows what we’ll end up talking about…

Click here to listen LIVE starting at 10pm ET on 12/19/11 (Monday)!

Episode 38 of  Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live on Monday, December 19, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol. We’ll also be joined by Sam of District Tribute, Crystal of Mockingjay.net and FictionalFood.net, Kait of Victor’s Village, Natalie of Crushable, and Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty!

We have a really fun show planned — our second to last show of 2011! — and hope you all will be able to join us!

– We’ll discuss Thursday’s #HungerGames100 puzzle hunt and analyze the incredible new movie poster that was revealed after all 100 pieces — which had been scattered across the web — were assembled.
– We’ll also talk about the trailer music mystery (which has now been solved!) and our “100 Things to Do Before The Hunger Games Opens” video.
– We’ll briefly share our thoughts on Mainstay Productions’ second Finnick and Annie short (because how can we not!?).
– Since the holidays are all about love, we’ll explore a couple of love-themed Crackpot Theories that were submitted by listeners: “President Snow and Coin were together (in a relationship)” and “If Annie and Peeta had died, Finnick and Katniss would have ended up together.”
– Finally, to help get everyone into the Christmas spirit, we conclude with a parody that we penned just for the occasion: “‘Twas the Night Before Reaping.”

Episode 36 of  Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live on Monday, December 5, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol. We’ll also be joined by Sam of District Tribute, Crystal of Mockingjay.net and FictionalFood.net, Rebekah of Victor’s Village, Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty, and Natalie of Crushable.

What’s on tap?

– We’ll share our thoughts on what was probably the biggest news story of the week: the potential merger of Lionsgate and Summit. If it happens, how will this merger affect the future of the Hunger Games film franchise?
– We’ll also discuss TheFABlife.com‘s recent interview with Scholastic editor David Levithan about the dystopian trend in YA literature. Why is this dark genre so popular right now?
– At 10:30 or so, we’ll interview the brilliant creators of The Katniss Chronicles, an unofficial audio drama based on The Hunger Games.
– We’ll conclude with a couple of Crackpot Theories: The Hunger Games actually happened in the 1800s but the government today is covering it up (thanks, Emma Porter!); Mags was actually speaking Spanish when she was “babbling” in Catching Fire.

HG Fireside Chat: Episode 34 – “Twilight and Parody” Promo

Yet another week has gone by and it is almost time again for another episode of Hunger Games Fireside Chat! Episode 34 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air on 22 November 2011, Tuesday, live at 11am SGT. Do listen to it!

“Twilight and Parody”

Episode 34 of  Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live on Monday, November 21, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol. We’ll also be joined by Sam of District Tribute, Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty, Jenn of The Hunger Games Collab and Hunger Games Confessions, and Kim of Reflections of a Book Addict.

We can’t guarantee that we’ll top last week’s trailer episode, but we definitely have a very fun night planned!

– We’ll chat with two non-fans, Len and Anthony, about their reactions to the new theatrical trailer (and maybe convince them to read the books).
– In light of the release of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 this weekend, we’ll share our “big screen trailer experiences” and also examine the Twilight phenomenon as it relates to The Hunger Games: Why does the public/the media constantly compare the two series, when they’re so totally different? Will The Hunger Games surpass Twilight in ticket sales and popularity?
– At 10:30pm (or thereabouts), we’ll be joined by the authors of The Hunger But Mainly Death Games (they go by the name of “Bratniss Everclean,” but hopefully we can convince them to reveal their true identities to us).
– We’ll also interview S.D. King — the author of The Younger Games — and discuss Hunger Games parodies in general. Are they appropriate or not?

– We’ll begin by weighing in on the cast photos and interviews in the December 2011 issue of Vanity Fair.
– We’ll react to Woody Harrelson’s recent interview with MTV. What do we think about his self-described “unconventional” interpretation of our beloved character? Many seem to think that he’s reinventing Haymitch and breaking canon; what do you think?

– What is Panem World? We’ll give you a sneak preview!
– Professor Adam gave us all a homework assignment last week: Read Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery (a veryHunger Games-esque tale) and come prepared to discuss it! We’ll share our interpretations of this classic American short story.

🙂

By the way, watch out for me and Vanora (your Hunger Games SG admins) during the PANEM WORLD Segment of the Podcast!
