HG Fireside Chat: Episode 42 – “Haymitch Slumps on a Couch” Promo

Click here to listen to Episode 42 LIVE tonight (1/16/12) at 10pm ET/7pm PT!

Episode 42 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live TONIGHT, January 16, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol, Sam of District Tribute and Panem Radio, Tiffany of Victor’s Village, and Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty.

As we predicted last week…the storm is here!

– We’ll kick off the show by recapping/discussing ALL of the amazing news from this past week: the new still of Effie, Haymitch, and Katniss that was released by The Daily Blam on Sunday, Lionsgate’s $412.5 million purchase of Summit, Suzanne Collins’ executive producer status, and the unveiling of CapitolCouture.pn (what do we think about Lionsgate’s beauty-centric marketing tactics?).
– Next, we’ll do an interview round-up and share our favorite moments from the MANY cast interviews that have been popping up online. (Because there have been so many, we can’t really link them all here, so we suggest you visit all of your favorite fan sites to check out any that you may have missed.)
– On a similar note, we’ll also talk about Gary Ross’s INCREDIBLE interview with the L.A. Times Hero Complex, in which he explains the lengths he went to in order to direct The Hunger Games.

HG Fireside Chat: Episode 41 – “The Calm Before the Storm” Promo

Click here to listen to Episode 41 LIVE on Monday night (1/9/12) starting at 10pm ET/7pm PT!

Episode 41 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live TONIGHT, January 9, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol, Crystal of Mockingjay.net and FictionalFood.net, Sam of District Tribute, Rebekah of Victor’s Village, and Natalie of Crushable.

The last couple of weeks have been very slow, news-wise, but we’re expecting things to really pick up during the latter part of January, especially as Hunger Games TV spots start airing and the cast begins to make more public appearances. We have a feeling that this may be the calm before the storm, so to speak, so we’re going to take advantage of it and just have fun!

– We’ll kick off the show with a few brief announcements, some quick Lionsgate/Summit merger updates, and a short discussion of AFM’s picketing of Lionsgate.
– We’ll then do one round of Pick a Page (since it’s been awhile), so get your books ready!
– We’ll spend the rest of the evening digging into our topic cornucopia (a.k.a. grab bag), which is absolutely overflowing with all sorts of conversation topics, Crackpot Theories, Cave/Marry/Kill line-ups, and more! Who knows what we’ll end up talking about…

Hunger Games Portugal Exclusive Interview With James Gaisford

Our fellow Panem World partner, Hunger Games Portugal, has secured an exclusive interview with James Gaisford.

James Gaisford is gaining popularity among Hunger Games fans around the world after making his debut in MainStay Productions‘s fan made “The Second Quarter Quell” short with him playing young Haymitch Abernathy.

Due to to rising popularity among Hunger Games fans, James Gaisford went on to act in “Finnick and Annie Web Series” with him portraying Finnick Odair in Episodes 4, 5 and 6. You can check out the first episode of “Finnick and Annie Web Series” over here.

Check out the first part of Hunger Games Portugal‘s interview with James Gaisford below.

Hunger Games Portugal: Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

James Gaisford: Umm let’s see… My name is James Gaisford. I’m 17 years old. I’m a member of LDS Church. I really enjoy reading, writing, singing, chapstick, animals, music, family and I am extremely passionate about acting.

Are you a Hunger Games Fan?

Yes, absolutely.

Since when? And how did you get to know the trilogy?

Since the beginning! I actually happened to get a copy of it before anyone else in my neighborhood… Some sweet old librarian accidentally gave me the one that everyone had placed a hold on… haha whoops 🙂

If you could play any character on film, who would you pick?

Any character? Hmm that’s hard… I don’t know! I can’t really say what part I would like to play in the future cos I can’t see the future!

What part did you liked to play the most: Haymitch or Finnick?

Geez these are good questions haha… OK, I really enjoyed both soo much! I think filming Haymitch was a bit more up my alley, just cause there was lots of fighting. But if I was given an opportunity to play either in the film I would definitely play finnick over haymitch just because I like to take time to develop characters.

What do you think about so many people expressing their desire to have you on the role of Finnick Odair on Catching Fire?

Its absolutely surreal.

Did you participate in any casting call for The Hunger Games movie, or are you thinking about auditioning for one of the next ones?

Nope! Haha. I was just a lucky fan that got an opportunity to be in a really fun youtube video.

Is there any actor from The Hunger Games movie that you would like to work with?

I’m sure all of them would be an amazing experience.

How do you feel about having so many fangirls right now? Do you ever felt pressured by them? Do you wish to have a connection with your fans (without letting them into your personal life, of course)?

Fangirls? What fangirls?? Haha… Yes that is a big issue, I really want to connect with the wonderful people who are so supportive of me. (thank you) But, at the same time I think keeping your personal life, personal is essential to maintaining a healthy normal life.

Head over to Panem World for the English version of the interview or visit Hunger Games Portugal and read the interview in Portuguese!

– We’ll discuss Thursday’s #HungerGames100 puzzle hunt and analyze the incredible new movie poster that was revealed after all 100 pieces — which had been scattered across the web — were assembled.

– We’ll briefly share our thoughts on Mainstay Productions’ second Finnick and Annie short (because how can we not!?).
– Since the holidays are all about love, we’ll explore a couple of love-themed Crackpot Theories that were submitted by listeners: “President Snow and Coin were together (in a relationship)” and “If Annie and Peeta had died, Finnick and Katniss would have ended up together.”
– Finally, to help get everyone into the Christmas spirit, we conclude with a parody that we penned just for the occasion: “‘Twas the Night Before Reaping.”

What’s on tap?

– We’ll share our thoughts on what was probably the biggest news story of the week: the potential merger of Lionsgate and Summit. If it happens, how will this merger affect the future of the Hunger Games film franchise?
– We’ll also discuss TheFABlife.com‘s recent interview with Scholastic editor David Levithan about the dystopian trend in YA literature. Why is this dark genre so popular right now?
– At 10:30 or so, we’ll interview the brilliant creators of The Katniss Chronicles, an unofficial audio drama based on The Hunger Games.
– We’ll conclude with a couple of Crackpot Theories: The Hunger Games actually happened in the 1800s but the government today is covering it up (thanks, Emma Porter!); Mags was actually speaking Spanish when she was “babbling” in Catching Fire.

We can’t guarantee that we’ll top last week’s trailer episode, but we definitely have a very fun night planned!

– We’ll chat with two non-fans, Len and Anthony, about their reactions to the new theatrical trailer (and maybe convince them to read the books).
– In light of the release of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 this weekend, we’ll share our “big screen trailer experiences” and also examine the Twilight phenomenon as it relates to The Hunger Games: Why does the public/the media constantly compare the two series, when they’re so totally different? Will The Hunger Games surpass Twilight in ticket sales and popularity?
– At 10:30pm (or thereabouts), we’ll be joined by the authors of The Hunger But Mainly Death Games (they go by the name of “Bratniss Everclean,” but hopefully we can convince them to reveal their true identities to us).
