As you might know, Trish and I went to ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe at The Cathay yesterday.
Currently, these Hunger Games fans in Singapore have expressed their interest in joining us for this unofficial meet up.
Date: 25 November 2011, Friday
Meeting Point: Dhoby Ghaut MRT station exit to Plaza Singapura. There is a bubble tea shop in Dhoby Ghaut MRT station exit to Plaza Singapura. We will meet up at the empty space beside the bubble tea shop.
Program for the day
1) Lunch – As 12pm is the peak lunch time period, we will look for a place that will be able to accommodate all of us as well as our budgets and preferences instead of deciding on a place now. We will spend lots of time chatting about everything related to The Hunger Games and beyond that too.
2) Head over to The Cathay for photo taking in ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe. We might walk around before that but it all depends on that day.
This is a very casual meet up event. Just think of it as a chance to meet more Hunger Games fans! I don’t know about you but I would love to chat with fans all about Hunger Games! If you would like to join in, feel free to meet up at the meeting point on that day! However, it would be good to give us a heads up before that though, such as leaving a comment under this post, tweet us at @HungerGamesSG, leave a post on our Facebook page or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If not, we wouldn’t know that you are coming and we might have left the meeting point.
Updated With More Photos! Hunger Games Singapore Staff Trip To ‘The Hunger Games’ Snow Globe At The Cathay
UPDATE: We realized fan sites have taken the picture of children in ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe which we have previously posted in previous post and spread it around the internet. As we do not know the children in question, we are not sure if their parents or the children themselves will be happy to see their picture spreading around. Thus, we kindly request all fan sites to replace it with this picture of Hunger Games Singapore staff in ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe or ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe picture as shown below instead. Thank you.
As previously mentioned, ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe will be on display from 17 November 2011 to 25 December 2011 at the entrance of The Cathay.
You would have to purchase a S$5 coupon from The Cathay information counter at Level 1. Paid entrance to ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe is available for the first 1000. A single coupon will entail 4 person to enter the ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe where a professional photographer will take a photo memento like the one below!
That is not all! You can also redeem a box of ‘The Hunger Games’ poker cards with the very same coupon you had purchased at The Cathay information counter! Unfortunately, you can only redeem a box of ‘The Hunger Games’ poker cards with each coupon.
If you are wondering what are the terms and conditions as well as all the details for the best experience for ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe, we got that covered. Take a look at the photo below which has all the information that you need to know.
While many would have been attracted to ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe (we don’t blame you!) which was placed at the center of the attraction, Hunger Games Singapore staff Trish managed to spot those little clues left all over The Cathay shopping mall to signify that ‘The Hunger Games’ will be arriving in Cathay Cineplexes soon.
For example, take a look at the picture below. It looks like the previous picture except upon taking a closer look, you will realize the pillar that is covered in Christmas tree design in the right side of the picture has not any usual Christmas ornaments hanging from the tree. That is Mockingjay ornaments!
In fact, all the pillars surrounding ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe are covered in the same Christmas tree designs with Mockingjay ornaments.
Besides that, take a closer look at the glass wall on the level two of The Cathay. It looks like a seemingly innocent Merry Christmas greeting but on a closer look…we found ‘The Hunger Games’ movie tagline “May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor” under it.
Last but not least, these little posters are pasted on the glass doors of the lifts in The Cathay informing people about ‘The Hunger Games’ snow globe on display. It also includes a brief information on ‘The Hunger Games’ movie too!
Updated on 25 November 2011: We had went back to The Cathay and we saw that they had attached ‘The Hunger Games’ banners to the ceilings of levels 1 to 4 in The Cathay as shown in the picture below!
The Cathay shopping mall is around 5 minutes walk away from Dhoby Ghaut MRT station on North East Line and North South Line.
If you are wondering why The Cathay is promoting ‘The Hunger Games’ on such a large basis, The Cathay belongs to Cathay Organization which also houses Cathay-Keris Films. Cathay-Keris Films is ‘The Hunger Games’ movie distributor in Singapore.
What do you think? We think it’s certainly great promotion step taken by Cathay Cineplexes and we are excited to see what they have up on their sleeves next!
‘The Hunger Games’ is currently slated to open in Singapore on March 22, 2012.
THE HUNGER GAMES HAS HIT SINGAPORE SHORES!
An hour ago, we received a tweet from Cathay Cineleisure Orchard informing us about the Hunger Games Snowglobe which just opened yesterday.
The Hunger Games Snowglobe is currently on display at The Cathay at Handy Road (near Plaza Singapura and the new School Of The Arts Campus).
It will also be on display from 17 November 2011 to 25 December 2011 and you would have to pay $5 per entry as professional photographers will be there to help you take a photo memento like this one below:

Yesterday’s The New Paper First Look featured ‘The Hunger Games’. Many thanks to our reader Rebecca Ee, we have a scan of the article as below.
MTV: What can you tell us about that costume in the arena?
MTV has also provided a transcript of the interview as below.
Josh Hutcherson: The costumes in the arena are very practical, which they had to be, not only for the purpose of the characters but also for us as actors because sometimes it was 95 degrees in the forest, and you’re running around and you want to make sure you’re wearing the right clothes and the appropriate attire and the right kind of shoes and everything. So we made it very real.
MTV: What about the one that is on fire?
Hutcherson: The one that’s on fire, I don’t want to say anything about that yet, you’ll have to wait for it. It’s very cool, I promise you. It’s very cool.
MTV: Have you been following any of the fan fervor surrounding the film?
Hutcherson: Obviously the fans are crazy about it, which I’m really excited for them to see it. But for me, I stay away from a lot of that stuff, just because I don’t really look at it all that much. But I hear some things people are saying, and it’s pretty cool. It’s exciting to hear people are that interested in something you’re doing, so it’s a little nerve-racking, but I’m onboard. The fans for “The Hunger Games,” they’re die-hard. They’re the best fans in the world so I’m really excited for them to see the movie.
Deadline has broke out with an exclusive stating Lionsgate is very interested in getting Oscar winning scriptwriter, Simon Beaufoy, to write the script for ‘The Hunger Games’ sequel, ‘Catching Fire’.
The mini-major is courting Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire scribe Simon Beaufoy to write Catching Fire, the second installment of the three book series that tracks the life and death adventures of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). I’m told that Gary Ross, who directed The Hunger Games, is coming back for the sequel. He originally intended to write the outline for the second film and script it with author Suzanne Collins (they teamed to do a lot of writing on the first film), but the post production schedule on The Hunger Games has made that difficult. The film opens March 23. There is no start date on the sequel, but it is high priority. Ross and producers Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik then focused on Beaufoy. Negotiations haven’t begun yet, but Lionsgate is pushing hard for Beaufoy. Aside from Slumdog Millionaire, Beaufoy also scripted 127 Hours, The Full Monty and most recently adapted Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
Do remember that Lionsgate has not confirmed this and currently nothing is confirmed unless a contract is signed.
I don’t know what you think about this but it seems Lionsgate is might be starting the process of having ‘Catching Fire’ in pre-production. Currently, I like Gary Ross has done with ‘The Hunger Games’ movie so far. He seemed like a huge fan boy of it and he works well together with Suzanne Collins it seems. I’m not sure where Suzanne Collins will come in if Simon Beaufoy is writing the script. Perhaps they will be discussing together? No matter what, at least with an award winning scriptwriter, it will looks good on the paper. Lionsgate, I’m still betting on you so don’t disappoint me.
Jacqueline “Jackie” Emerson, soon to be known as ‘Foxface’ when ‘The Hunger Games’ movie hits theaters next year, attended ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1’ movie premiere recently and she was caught by Kaleb Nation.
In this short interview, Jackie Emerson was asked if she was a fan of ‘The Hunger Games’ before being cast, how she prepared for the audition process and if she was a vampire, who would she bite first.
People Magazine had teased about a certain exclusive that would be revealed within this week and now here it is.
People.com revealed two pictures from ‘The Hunger Games’ movie. The first pictures shows Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket and holding the microphone in which Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen appears to be about to say something. It seems that this picture is set during The Reaping scene back in District 12.
The second picture has Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne in the field.
Attached along with the article that included the stills was an interview with Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket.
“Effie is a very complicated woman,” says Banks, who previously worked with director Gary Ross on 2003’s Seabiscuit. “She’s a spinner. She spins everything into something positive. These kids have been pulled from their loved ones to compete on television in this horrible event in which they will likely lose their lives.”
Effie, she says, is “charged with making their last days before they’re in the Games as positive as possible, so that they go into the Games with a great attitude. And, of course, that seems crazy.”
At the center of the action is the heroine Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence), whose skills with a bow and arrow aid her survival.
“Katniss is so strong, so courageous, and when faced with this overly positive, super-enthusiastic Effie, [Jennifer] and I definitely had some great moments of conflict,” says Banks – who admits to one major drawback in playing the outrageously dressed character.
“For sure the biggest challenge of playing Effie was the shoes!” says Banks. “All of my shoes in the movie are completely amazing but highly uncomfortable. I said to Gary, ‘You better be shooting these shoes, because they’re killing me.’ ”
It appears more ‘The Hunger Games’ movie coverage can be found in this week’s issue of PEOPLE magazine which will hit stands in America on Friday.
People Magazine tweeted 17 hours ago, alerting all Hunger Games fans to keep their eyes peeled on People.com this week for an exclusive look at ‘The Hunger Games’ movie.
What could it be? Would it be a picture still? Would it be a short footage?
Whatever it is, we will certainly be on the lookout for it!
