RUMOUR: Sam Claflin Might Play Finnick Odair?
Following the news of Lynn Cohen officially joining “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” as Mags, who is also Finnick Odair’s mentor, undoubtedly one of the most popular characters in The Hunger Games trilogy.
Deadline noted Sam Claflin has a high possibility of being cast as Finnick Odair, the male victor of 65th Hunger Games from District 4.
Here’s the quote from Deadline:
Sam Claflin has been the favorite, but he had a problem with an option owed to another studio that presented date problems. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter stars Ben Walker, Boyd Holbrook and Tyler Hoechlin were the other competitors for that role, but it looks now like things have cleared for Claflin and that he’ll play the role. You’ve seen him in Snow White And The Huntsman and Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Please treat this as a rumour. All official “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” casting news can be found on www.CatchingFireCasting.com. If you don’t see it there, chances are it’s nothing but a rumour.
What do you think if Sam Claflin were to play Finnick Odair?
The Hunger Games, rated PG13, was released on 22 March 2012 and DVD and Blu-Ray pre-orders are now available. “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is scheduled for release on 22 November 2013 in USA.

Santa Monica, CA, August 2, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Lynn Cohen has been cast in the role of Mags in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former mentor to Finnick Odair, Mags is an eighty year old Hunger Games victor from District 4.
Known to New York theater audiences for decades of memorable roles, Cohen has also appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Steven Spielberg’s Munich and Charlie Kaufman’s Synecdoche, NY, as well as commercial fare such as Sex and The City and its sequel.
