Kinokuniya Promotes “The Hunger Games” In A Major Way

While we had previously reported about “The Hunger Games” teaser poster board spotted in Kinokuniya and also “The Hunger Games” movie tie-in promotion in Kinokuniya, that is not all.

A trip to both Bugis Junction and Ngee Ann City’s Kinokuniya outlets showed they are all geared up for “The Hunger Games” release.

The main highlights area near the entrance for Bugis Junction’s Kinokuniya is now plastered with huge “The Hunger Games” final poster featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. Besides that, UK adult and children edition of “The Hunger Games” trilogy along with “The Hunger Games” movie tie-in edition are also on display.

A trip to Ngee Ann City’s Kinokuniya showed promotions for “The Hunger Games” on an even grander scale due to the larger area of free space near the entrance available.

Underneath the large “The Hunger Games” final poster featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, the tables are stocked with the “The Hunger Games” related books as follows:

  • UK children edition of “The Hunger Games” trilogy
  • UK adult edition of “The Hunger Games” trilogy
  • US hardcover “The Hunger Games” trilogy box set
  • US paperback “The Hunger Games” trilogy box set
  • UK children paperback “The Hunger Games” trilogy box set
  • Taiwan “The Hunger Games” trilogy box set
  • Japanese edition of “The Hunger Games”
  • US “The Hunger Games – Collector’s Edition”
  • “The Hunger Games” movie tie-in edition

  • “The Hunger Games : Tribute Guide”, “Unofficial Hunger Games Companion”
  • “The Girl Who Was On Fire”
  • “The Hunger Games and Philosophy: A Critique of Pure Treason”
  • “Stars in the Arena : Meet the Hotties of the Hunger Games, Unauthorized Biographies”
  • “The Hunger Pains : A Parody” and “The Hunger Games”

There is a TV placed there framed with another picture of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, holding a bow and arrow. The TV was also playing “The Hunger Games” trailers on loop.

I think this is certainly a great chance for more people to get to know about “The Hunger Games”, considering they might be curious to know more after watching the trailers playing on the TV. Furthermore, it’s certainly hard to miss this huge “The Hunger Games” display when you are walking past or into Kinokuniya!

VIDEO: New LQ TV Spot Shows More Footage From The Training Centre

Despite not having any more trailers, there is a new low quality TV spot (something like a commercial in Singapore) just being released. Even though there were many similarities to the trailer released during the Super Bowl, this shows more footage from the training.

Perhaps that is how they control the events in the arena…

Jack Quaid Talks About ‘The Hunger Games’ With Interview Magazine

Interview Magazine has an interview with Jack Quaid, who will soon be gracing the big screen on March 22, about playing the Career Tribute, Marvel, in ‘The Hunger Games’ and acting.

Jack Quaid

“I do something horrible to someone very small and cute, and then I have my ass handed to me immediately after,” says 19-year-old Jack Quaid of his feature film debut in the much-anticipated post-apocalyptic fantasy The Hunger Games, which is due out in March. “When I got cast, I was told that people would be spitting on me in the streets,” he says. Directed by Gary Ross (Pleasantville, 1998; Seabiscuit, 2003), the first installment of the franchise based on the best-selling young-adult novels by Suzanne Collins is positioned to inherit the teen hysteria left up for grabs when the Twilight saga finally draws to a close. Quaid plays Marvel, a spear-throwing competitor in a state-sponsored, televised outdoor-arena battle to the death. (Spoiler alert: He receives an A-list slaying at the hands of Academy Award–nominee Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the teenage heroine Katniss.) The project, essentially a satire of reality TV culture, also serves as a high-profile career kick-off for the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, whose previous on-screen experience was mostly limited to comedic shorts done with friends—a highlight of which is The Invasion of the Douchebags, in which a Phil Collins song triggers a virus that turns residents of Martha’s Vineyard into, well, douchebags.

Visit Interview Magazine for the rest of the interview.

‘The Hunger Games’ will be released in Singapore on 22 March 2012.

December Issue of Vanity Fair Includes ‘The Hunger Games’ Feature And More Photos

Just a little while ago we have posted on ‘The Hunger Games’ Tributes cast featured in a Vanity Fair article. It appears Vanity Fair has more photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Gale Hawthorne in their ‘The Hunger Games’ feature slideshow. Check it out below!

Plus, Vanity Fair has also released additional quotes from the cast and crew interviews!

For those mourning the passing of the Harry Potter cycle and dreading the looming end of the Twilight saga, Suzanne Collins has come to the rescue with her spellbinding trilogy of novels, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. The first comes to movie theaters on March 23. The post-apocalyptic drama takes place in Panem, a North American country that is divided into 12 districts. Every year children between the ages of 12 and 18 must enter their names in a lottery known as “the reaping.” Each district selects a boy and a girl to compete with the representatives of the other districts in a televised fight to the death. The final victor wins a life free from want. Collins got the idea for the books from watching footage of the Iraq war and reality television. Adapted for the screen by writer-director Gary Ross (Seabiscuit), the films are positioned to be Hollywood’s next big teen franchise. “My kids turned me on to it, and I went nuts,” says Ross, adding, “You rarely get a tentpole that has this much emotional depth, this much character to dive into.” Jennifer Lawrence, who received an Oscar nomination last year for her performance in Winter’s Bone, is Katniss, the heroine, who, when her younger sister gets picked in the reaping, volunteers to take her place. “Katniss is an incredible character: she’s a hunter but not a killer, a 16-year-old who’s being forced into the arena,” says Lawrence. “These kids are killing one another only because if they don’t they’ll die. It’s heartbreaking.” Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) plays Peeta, who has loved Katniss since childhood and who is also chosen in the reaping. “I literally read all three books over the course of five days,” he says. “My mind was blown by how much I felt I was like Peeta. We shot in the forest near Asheville, North Carolina—a lot of fight scenes, very physically demanding. Jennifer and I totally hit it off. We’re both crazy people—we don’t hold anything back.” Ross concludes, “My responsibility was to Suzanne and the readers, to give them the same experience they had when they read the book. I was just so lucky that I had the cast I had.”

‘The Hunger Games’ Young Cast On Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair has released an article featuring the main Tributes cast for ‘The Hunger Games’ movie along with interviews of how they got the role.

While the odds may not be in favor of these actors in the arena, they certainly were in the casting room. In what was one of the most-watched casting calls for young actors since Twilight, auditions for The Hunger Games were a battle royale in their own right. Anxious to make the cut, hopefuls went all out: they covered their faces with dirt, put twigs in their hair, and wielded various weapons (including a Nerf crossbow and plastic butcher knife). It was all for the chance to play the “tributes” who fight each other to the death in contests broadcast throughout Panem (the futuristic ruins of North America) in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s wildly popular young-adult novels. Ultimately, director Gary Ross took a liking to a fresh-faced cast that includes stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth, and a host of new breakout actors. Scroll your mouse over their faces to get the basics on the soon-to-be household names, and read about how they got their highly coveted roles.

What’s totally cool is that you can hover your mouse over each of the cast for individual interviews so head over Vanity Fair now!

For those who are still complaining about Josh Hutcherson’s hair for goodness sake, it looks perfectly blonde to me!
