Gary Ross Says Jennifer Lawrence “Should Be Nominated” For Oscar Best Actress Again
With only a little more than 2 months to go till ‘The Hunger Games’ movie is released, the cast and director are opening up regarding possible filming details to ‘Catching Fire’.
Entertainment Weekly has am interview with Jennifer Lawrence who will play Katniss Everdeen in ‘The Hunger Games’ movie franchise as well as ‘The Hunger Games’ director Gary Ross. Gary Ross was all praise for Jennifer Lawrence’s portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in ‘The Hunger Games’ movie and thinks she deserves another Best Actress Oscar nomination in 2013.
“The range in this performance, the emotional terrain that she investigates, the demands of what this role are,” he raves of Lawrence’s portrayal of series heroine Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old forced alongside other children into a televised fight-to-the-death. “It’s such an intensely physical role and an emotional one. She carries the entire movie. To be able to do that at that age is so kind of incredible that I was in a little bit of awe. Do I think she should be nominated? Absolutely.”
Jennifer Lawrence also shared how she is looking forward to start the training for ‘Catching Fire’ in July and ‘Catching Fire’ might be filmed in Hawaii.
Lawrence herself sounds surprised herself by how ready she is to shoulder Katniss’ burdens once more. “Signing onto the movies I was like, ‘Well, I’ll probably love the first one and then I’ll just want to get the rest of them out of the way,’” she says. “But I can’t wait to start training. As soon as they were like ‘We need to start training in July,’ I was like ‘Woohoo!’ I can’t wait to get back.” She pauses to laugh. “Though I don’t know if that’s because I think we might shoot in Hawaii.” The tropical location would make sense, as much of Catching Fire‘s pivotal action takes place on a Capitol-constructed beach. Just yet another reason for Lawrence to look forward to the shoot.
Head over to Entertainment Weekly for the full interview where Jennifer Lawrence talk about working with Gary Ross and what Gary Ross think of ‘Catching Fire’.

It’s incredibly rare to see the sequels being greenlit before the first movie is released. It was expected that Lionsgate will look at the box office for “The Hunger Games” before deciding if they shall greenlit “Catching Fire”. The fact that they had greenlit “Catching Fire” before “The Hunger Games” is released speaks volumes on how much confidence Lionsgate has in “The Hunger Games” in regarding to being a success.
What do you think of this? Are you excited that “Catching Fire” is already greenlit? Do tell us in the comments below!
